Breast Fat Transfer
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder…. With the advent and growth of the internet, our world is getting smaller and much more visual every day. Human kind has three dominant racial types, traditionally referred to as African, Asian and Caucasian. However over centuries of time, concentration of gene pools as well as racial blending from migration has produced populations in diverse locations around the world which have distinct physical features. As a result, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Polynesian populations all derive from the Asian race but look a little different.
The bodies of our Brazilian counterparts tend to have a youthful appearing buttock area which has more width and projection, and a deeper lumbosacral curve than we would typically find in a population from Northern Europe. The buttock on profile view frequently exceeds the projection provided by the breast area, and this ethnic look has become quite popular with aesthetically minded people of all nationalities.
BEFORE SURGERY
Prior to surgery a complete medical history is taken in order to evaluate the general health of the patient. A thorough examination is also conducted. Dr. Gordon will describe the type of anesthesia to be used, the procedure, what results might realistically be expected, and possible risks and complications.
Pre-operative directions may include the elimination of certain drugs that contain aspirin in order to minimize the possibility of excess bleeding. Antibiotics will be prescribed prior to surgery to prevent infection. Photographs are taken before surgery. The areas to be contoured are marked with a special marking pen.
The procedure
Buttock enlargement (Brazilian Butt Lift) can be performed under general anesthesia in our accredited surgery center. The essence of the surgical procedure is careful, artful removal of fat in those areas where it is excessive and injecting the fat in those areas of the buttocks which are deficient. The alternative to grafting fat is to insert a silicone gel buttock implant into the gluteus muscle to give it volume and projection. Both methods work well alone or combined with one another. The implant method is preferable for patients who don’t have much fat, and the fat graft method is easier for patients who have plenty of fat. Buttock enhancement can be combined with other body contouring procedures such as tummy tucks, breast enhancement, or abdominal or thigh liposuction. The liposuction phase of the surgical procedure is the same as any other lipo (see section on liposuction) except the fat is collected, washed and re-injected. Care is taken to keep track of fluid in and fluid (fat) out in each liposuction location, as well as the volume of fat grafted into each buttock area.
